I just recently started my summer school holiday. On the second week of the school holidays, mum, dad and me went down south to Collie. That was where the Wellington Dam is. Collie is about two hours from Perth but on the way there we got stuck in traffic twice! We went to a campsite in Collie called Potter's Gorge and that's where we set up camp. We brought our big tent. The first thing we did when we got there was we saw a thing called a campground host and there was a person sitting there so dad drove over to the campground host. Dad got down from the car and started talking to the lady shortly mum and I came down from the car and herd the lady say that we could camp wherever we wanted so we got back into the car and drove around to have a look there were allot of spaces but it wasn't that big. We picked our spot near the edges because it was that or the middle and hot sun. When mum and dad were setting up the tent I discovered we were near a small log. So I climbed up and down it, after a while I got a bit bored so I went to ask dad weather I could help he said yes I was just in time for putting down the pegs so I got the pegs and dad said he would the pegs in so I made up a service called please pick a peg dad thought it was really funny. Then we had lunch which was some of dad's famous beef curry. It was yum! Then dad went to get some ice and and my ice-cream. While he was gone mum was trying to figure out how to put the vestibule then she realized that she had to put up the rain sheet. As soon as she figured that out dad was back.
Mum told him that they needed to put up the rain sheet so while I was enjoying my ice-cream in the tent they started the process of putting the rain sheet on the tent when I finished they were still doing stuff so I asked dad weather I could go down to the Wellington Dam shore because it was just near our camp. Dad said yes so I walked there. I took my thongs off so I could walk in the so only my feet would get wet. When I was walking I saw a girl called Matilda swimming in the water then shortly after she introduced herself 2 boys ran along and raced into the water I got a little wet but that was okay. They were Matilda's twin brother's. The youngest out of the twins was Snow but I don't know why but I kept on calling him Smokey?! But he didn't care. The other one was called Banjo he kept on asking us questions like where were we going today and he was so attached to dad because the first day dad went fishing down the shore of the dam and guess what... Banjo followed him when his mum said don't go past the toilets and my dad went passed the toilets! SO Banjo already left shortly after dad left and mum and I knew that he was going to go past the toilets. then shortly after Banjo left Snow came looking for him mum and I sent Snow to go to the front of the toilets and to see whether he was there and guess what he wasn't! So Snow went to tell his mum.
Other than that the trip was great dad wanted to catch a fish called the Red Fin Perch but he didn't catch any. He also wanted to catch a fish called a Trout. We saw one but that was it, we also fished up a undersized Maron! It was so cool! Also every morning when we wake up there are some wild Parrots that surrounded our tent, and if they want to they will come and eat some ground nuts just put it on your hand and Polly the parrot will come. It was so awesome. Everyone got a hold in one morning! We also saw a wild emu running across the road and a Bobtail Skink. We didn't take pictures of the Emu and the Bobtail because they were running away mum and dad also got to see a Red Tailed Cockatoo but I didn't. We also went to a place called Gnomes Ville where you had to bring a gnome and put anywhere there were like millions of gnomes they were up in the trees on the ground and there was also a big bunch of gnomes set up as a gnome rescue team rescuing a gnome and you could pull it up and down. Here are some pictures we took.
